I just deleted Instagram. It’s better for the soul.

The original intentions were about connection.
But the business goals have shifted it into becoming largely a distraction that fuels the ego.
It activates our desire to compare ourselves to others.
A few generations from now we may look back at the era of social networks like we do the era of smoking.
It might even be looked at as worse because the drives of the ego may be stronger than the drive for a cigarette.
We may have swung too far in the social networking direction.
We are over connected now.
The internet + early social networks purely focused on the utility of connecting people might have been the right balance.
